Welcome to all my recent subscribers. Work and family life got very busy recently so that has taken me away from photography and writing… but I will keep working to carve out time.
Today I’ve got some black & white photos shot in the rain. The rains had returned to San Francisco after a dry month and I was feeling down. I knew that getting out to do some photography would be therapeutic so I took all of
’s encouragement to heart, put on my jacket, and headed out.
Thursday, February 20th Photo Chat
I’ve talked before about the importance of photography communities. Recently I’ve gotten involved with Alex Kilbee’s The Photographic Eye community.
I’ve led a few online photo chats for the community and I am now opening them up to a larger group. I'd would like to make these a regular monthly gathering, but for now, while life is too busy, they will be occasional.
Let me know if you’d like to join and I will send you the zoom link and an invite to the WhatsApp where I will post future online chats and San Francisco photo walks.
Here are some details:
Thursday Photo Chat: Feb. 20 from 7 PM to 8:15 PM PT
At about 7:05 we'll do a quick round of intros then we'll do a deeper dive into two or three people's photography (~20 minutes each). These deeper dives can be spontaneous or people can pre-plan something. Folks can show off, ask for feedback, present a challenge you have been tackling, etc. Sometimes we dig deeper, other times we’ll veer off to something else
If you'd like to take one of the slots let me know--if we get too many folks, we'll see how many we can accommodate. If no one signs up ahead we'll wing it and see where the meeting goes
Overall, these are informal gatherings with people jumping in with comments, praise, or advice. The idea is just to spend some time getting to know other photographers.
I hope you can make it to this week’s or a future week’s
Warmly,
josh
The yellow and red photos were certainly worth taking. For me, the photos of reflections are even more delightful because you had to notice and frame them to bring them to our attention. It must have been a pleasant surprise to come across them. They show that it's worth going out with a camera when it's wet.
Really great photos. And I especially enjoyed your use of color.
