Wonderful photographs, Josh. I like them all - and especially your 1/4 second El shot. Chicago is such a great city and a great photographer's city. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, those were really fun to shoot. I realized that most of my trips to Chicago had been business trips, with just about all of my time booked running from meeting to meeting, so I never really had time to appreciate it. It is really true that a camera makes you slow down and see.
It was hard! Got there early and still had to wait for a few to clear out. If you zoom in you might see some waiting in the wings in the reflections. Or the inside the bean photo you can see them at that point reflected. Absolutely, a few good days!
Lovely! Love the abstract under the bean - I think we stood in the same spot and looked up! Looking at these brought back many memories of a recent visit. Great work!!!!
Thanks. It was a really great trip… I’d only really ever been on business and it was not on my list of places to get to know better… but I am glad I did, it was a wonderful city. And the Art Institute!
My Aunt would take me to the Art Institute every chance she had. I would stand in front of Georgia Okeeffe’s Black Cross as long as she would let me. My love of all things art began there, in that spot!

Great stuff Josh—inspiring!
Great shots, Josh! It was great to have you on the workshop.
Wonderful seeing your perspective of the city.
Thanks! Just saw this but your advice here is great: https://laurinovak.substack.com/p/eight-things-to-consider-when-photographing
Thanks - architecture is a passion of mine.
Hopefully someday we’ll be in the same city at the same time and will have a chance to shoot together. Any San Francisco travel plans?
You never know! I would love to get back out to San Fran at some point. No plans at the moment.
Love the one of the bean and the one of the El. So glad to see you experience such a wonderful city.

That El photo is breathtaking! Some really wonderful images, here… – looks and sounds like you had a blast. Shame I’m not nearer SF!
Fun, cool shots!!
Thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed them. They were fun to shoot.
The bean clear of selfies and short video is very impressive. Looks like a great few days, judging from the excellent results!

Hello there Josh, you share some great posts friend. I’ve been on Substack around 2 weeks, and I’m trying to meet new people.
I suppose the best introduction for me would be one of my articles, this one is about photography:

Love these images. My family is from Chicago. Can't wait to go back and create some images.
