Here is what I wrote about that building when I wrote about it on Facebook: I hope someone has documented all of these, little, uncelebrated, but still proud and dightful buildings sprinkled throughout Los Angeles—and put them together with historic pictures of what they looked like in their glory days.
When I got back home I decided to do a quick research to see old photos were easily findable. The first place I went was Google Steetview. There were about 6 images going 10-15 years back. Every one of them had a for rent sign in the same place. And every one was different :-)
I also sometimes edit things out of photos so the photo ends up as what ‘I saw’ not what was really there. I thought about getting rid of the for rent sign, but it added to the photo in the end. Thanks for noticing.
