28. Visual Journal: Four hours in San Franciso with an old friend
Also: Free issue of Darkrooms Magazine Issue #3
I recently reconnected with an old friend I had not seen in 20 years and since we shared a love of photography we met up in San Francisco on Thursday to wander around, catch up and look for great pictures.
As we found galleries, stores, coffee, and lunch, Brian Lloyd Duckett’s quote from his “The Realities of Street Photography” blog kept coming back to me:
If I go out shooting tomorrow I’ll be happy to come home with one keeper or two - sometimes it’s none - and that’s fine too. I’ll have walked 30,000 steps, drank lots of decent coffee, had a beer or two, had a few interesting conversations, popped my head into a gallery, and whatever pictures I took, I’ll have had a great day.
We did manage to get some photos worthy of sharing here—and while there was a lot of empty retail space we did not see all the doom and gloom that San Francisco is so famous for right now.
Here is some of what we captured:
Patterns and reflections
Urban architecture
People, et. al.

A few months back Macel Borgstijn featured my photography—along with the photography of several popular Substack photographers—in his magazine Darkrooms. His next issue will be out soon so to help people discover the magazine he has given me a 100% discount voucher to share. Use this link and you can download Issue #3 for free.
Josh, I love the mix! Looks like a good day. And reconnecting with and old who shares the same love for photography? How awesome.
A fun mix here. Definitely a successful urban walkabout, likely in more ways than just fab shots.
