Backside
Back in post #4 I wrote about one of my ongoing projects, Backside.
The backside project asks:
When you turn the corner, go down the alley, or walk around the back,
is there anything interesting to see?
Is there beauty in the stuff that was not designed for consumption?
This picture seems to fit into that well. I’ve shot this backside a few times but usually it’s more concentrated on the door. Something about this one makes me want to look again and again. Is it the great light? The hints of now-absent people? The colors? The multiple tones of grey you only notice after looking again and again — like an Ad Reinhardt painting? Something else?
