thanks! And again thanks for the naming help! Also, have you ever counted how many years its been since we were passing around MG laughing on voicemail? I have but its not possible I am right. So glad we are in touch!
Oh my word, that was SO FUNNY!!! It had to have been Fall of '89 because by the Spring of '90 we had probably separated into our account groups . . . and liberated from the carcinogenic bunker!
I really enjoyed this, especially because I think they get to the essence of the photographer, which is usually the person not in the photos. I really like the ones with the circles, the phone booth and the last one!
Hi Josh! I really never tried it. I am, however, trying to get more experience taking other people's photos. It feels like it's completely different to take portraits than to take any other type of photography.
The last one is my favorite! I took more self portraits before becoming a mom two and a half years ago. Since then, the few I’ve taken usually also include my kids. I think it says more about my busyness than about my self image, but it’s a shift I find interesting nonetheless
If I looked at the dates of all my photos probably follows a similar pattern. In fact all of my photography dipped when I had kids. But, there comes a point where it begins to build back up.
And kid photography was a whole new realm for me. On that subject, my wife always laughs at me for this but, some of the best pictures I’ve taken of my kids were when they were really upset about something minor with tear streaming down their cheeks.
Feel free to share some self portraits and if I get enough I’ll do a future post with others’ photos.
That last photo was at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. They had a really incredible building. Needed more space so expanded. But, with the expansion totally disrespect the old museum. Almost push pushes at aside. This is the one spot they don’t. They turned to functional Bridge into a beautiful piece of art.
I, like many photographers, never liked my picture taken, but these past couple of years I’ve been having a blast taking self portraits in any kind of reflections I find around the streets. Great set!
Hey Josh! There's a selection currently on my website {https://www.leonardomascaro.com/self-reflections}, but the more experimental ones I'm planning to share soon on my publication and/or on notes.
I never really do self portraits, I HATE being photographed but, saying that, just on Friday I shot my shadow in a bit of bright sunlight and today😳 I shot myself in this strange multi-mirror display in a store (but with hanging blossoms occluding my face). In both cases, just w my crappy iPhone. I very, very rarely take shots of myself — but if there is an interesting reason to, I guess I have to just bite the bullet and “never” become “rarely”.
LOVE these! And the premise is a good one . . . I'd say introspective curiosity over ego.

(excuse any typos trying to dictate)

Would love to see them in post or otherwise.

I’ve definitely enjoyed kid photography! It’s a new dimension to the “beauty in everyday life” that’s fascinated me for years.
I’ll try to pull some together; I think a mixed self-portraits post would be interesting.
Very cool! Love the variety of shots too.
