Lately I’ve been experimenting with long exposure/motion blur and then this weekend our family dog had a friend come over for a visit and I wanted to try to capture them doing something other than sleeping on the couch.
I like this very much! When I've used slow shutter or ICM to achieve blur like this, I've found that curve adjustments in Photoshop or LR can help emphasize the lines of blur. Sometimes a soft blur is what I want and I don't touch it. For more detailed blurs, adjusting curves goes a long way.
oh wow, thanks! Curves are one thing I've been putting off learning but will go back and try this.
Also, I am writing a blog for this week about how I came to take these, what I tried first and what lead me to them. I am writing it so I can explore my own process since these are so different then most of what I do. Maybe I have to make editing a part of that article. Stay tuned.
Absolutely love these shots,Josh. You just reminded me of something similar I did with my in-laws' dog some time ago. I'll share it this weekend, thanks for the inspiration!
